Hello JCYSL Members:
This week is our make-up week from September 29th. We realize that some teams will not be playing this weekend due to games were made-up previously or out-of-region teams are unavailable. Please understand that we attempted to get games and schedules did not work out. Therefore some team's seasons ended earlier than expected. Lastly, we will not be able to make-up games from last weekend as we are contract ends tomorrow.
Fields and Weather
We will be using the 15U/19 #1, 12U #1, 10U #3, 10U #4, 6U/8U (2,3,5,6) for games tomorrow.
The forecast is for 90% chance of rain Friday evening into Saturday morning and temperatures are forecasted for the mid-50s. Unless the fields are unsafe, we plan to play. Please dress warmly and be prepared for a wet day. Players are permitted to wear warm clothing under their uniform. Safety is the priority so hoods must be tucked into the jersey and zippers/buttons must be covered by the uniform. Gloves and knitted hats are permitted as well. If you have any questions, please see your coach, referee, or JCYSL Board Member.
If we decide to cancel the entire day, we will do so by 7 AM Saturday morning. Please check your email, text messages, Facebook, and www.jcysl.org throughout the day as alerts may happen due to changing conditions. Coaches are not permitted to cancel games. JCYSL does play in the rain and will only cancel games for unsafe field conditions or severe weather events.
No Parking on the Grass!!!
The only acceptable grass parking is the back parking lot behind the upper fields. Please do not park on the grass in the main parking lot, along the road, or beside the no parking signs at the end of the main parking lot. This includes temporary drop-offs and pick-ups. Our landlord does not want us parking on the grass and we need to abide by that request.
Board Members and Volunteers Needed
JCYSL needs to fill these volunteer positions: Safety Director, 5U Division Director, 6U Division Director, and 12U Division Director. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact me at [email protected].
Not filling these positions in a timely manner will cause burn-out of the existing board members. This puts JCYSL in a bad position and leads us not producing a good program. If want to be part of the decision-making process within JCYSL, please consider one of these positions.
Player Equipment Reminder
All players must wear a shirt (jersey), shorts, socks, shoes, and shinguards. We refer to those as the 5s. Additionally, all jewelry must be removed. This includes any newly pierced ears. The only acceptable pieces of jewelry are medical ID necklaces or bracelets. Finally, hard casts and splits are not permitted and players will not be permitted to play. If you have any questions, please see a referee or board member.
Finally, please remember that we follow the AYSO Kids Zone during our practices and games. Those guidelines are listed later in this newsletter. Please read and follow during every AYSO event.
AYSO Kids Zone
At any AYSO event (practices, games, meetings, and field day), AYSO operates under the Kids Zone Pledge. What does that mean? Simply put Kids Zone is establishing a positive environment for our children to the play the game. The following rules are in play during these times:
- Kids are No. 1.
- Fun, not winning is everything.
- Fans only cheer, and only coaches coach.
- No yelling in anger.
- Respect all volunteers (referees, coaches, and board members).
- No swearing or abusive behavior.
- No alcohol, tobacco or drugs.
- No pets allowed at the fields. (Service pets are permitted with credentials.)
- No weapons.
- Leave no trash behind.
- Set a proper example of sportsmanship.
