Fall 2012 – Newsletter (Pre-Season)

  • Thank you JCYSL families for your assistance with Field Day! Our fields were reviewed by our Safety Director and Monday, a JCYSL Alert went out to notify all subscribers that fields are open for practices and play. Sign up for future alerts at: JCYSL Alert Subscription.
  • Have you been contacted by your coach? If not, log into www.eayso.org and look for the link: “Team / Coach information” to contact your coach.
(If you still do not see any information, please email your Age Division Director: http://www.jcysl.org/regionalcontacts/. Please note, coaches only received their information last week and there are only a few teams without coaches where a volunteer is needed to field the team.)
  • Practices started Monday August 20th, and your coach selected their practice times at the coaches meeting (a coaching benefit). Coaches will have the first meeting to talk to parents and identify a Team Parent who can help with a snack schedule, handing out fundraiser packets, and other things to help the coach focus on Player Development. Sign your KidsZone forms and give one copy to coach.
  • Opening Day Ceremonies: Team Parents should get their applications from the Coach’s Packet (due August 31 by replying to this email) to create banners for our Team Rally! Prizes to be given to best banners and team spirit! Games and activities throughout the day! (Some changes to this program are expected.)
  • Save 10% at the LockerRoom – they’re hosting JCYSL Spirit Weekthis week only if you need shin guards, cleats or soccer balls.
  • Yankee Candle Fundraisers – start selling now, sellers will turn in fundraiser packets on September 22 at the Morgan’s Grove fields.
  • Brown’s Tire is not only sponsoring the first game balls on opening day, but, you can get your own FREE MICHELIN SOCCER BALL by visiting their table at opening day and picking up a coupon for tire specials.
  • All U-6 Division Parents: The coaches and the board are asking you to facilitate games this year to help coaches focus on coaching. It’s EASY: one parent from one team keeps game time, and the other team helps kids with the starts/stops of the game. For more information contact our Regional Coach Administrator, David Simmons.
  • If were not one of the nearly 50 who attended JCYSL Open House, please review the slides here.
  • Team Sites (Shutterfly) will be created automatically for coaches and parents to communicate and share pictures starting NEXT WEEK (on 08/26/12 coaches should look for a “Shutterfly Activation Email”).
  • Games start September 8th and run 8 straight weeks to October 27. Game schedules will be published around September 1st, but before September 8th.
  • Safety Notes:
    • Lightning/Thunder Policy: If you see lightning or hear thunder, please evacuate the fields and proceed to your car (do not stand at/near metal fencing). Only resume play 30 minutes after the most recent lightning or thunder.
    • No hanging from any goals. Several of our goals needed repairs which is an extra cost for our non-profit league.
    • Bring water to practices and games.
    • No earrings – no exceptions.
    • Please remove any trash you or your team brings in.
    • No pets on the fields, even if they are cute.
    • No smoking in sight of the playing field.
