All:
I have good news. The referee equipment for new referees has arrived. There will be a bin at the referee tent that contains the equipment. Inside the bin will be a labeled bag containing your shirt, socks, coin, whistle, data wallet, and patch. Please remember that you need to provide shorts and a watch. In addition, the bin will contain extra score-pads for data wallets, extra sock, and a few extra shirts. Score-pads can be taken and kept. If you borrow a pair of socks or shirt, please take it home, wash it, and return it next week.
Mentoring:
Amy Davies, our Director of Referee Assessment, has done a fine job pairing mentors with mentee. For this to work correctly, referees must sign-up for games in the online system. This way the mentor can be available to help you through the game. Please remember that mentoring is used to help you through the tough game, give you pointers on how to handle situations, and to coach you on mechanics, foul recognition, and game management. Having this support mechanism in place is crucial to growth and retainment of our referees. Thank you mentors for volunteering the extra time to help the continual growth of the JCYSL Referee program.
Here is the list of pairings. The mentor is listed first, followed by the mentee. The (Y) indicates youth referee.
Homer Speaker – Mark Liddell; Nicholas Hampshire (Y)
Vince Bronkar – Mark Young & Mark Young, Jr. (Y)
Steve Kubik – Chris Kaufman; Isaac Vila (Y)
Lynn Kubik – Jenna Wermers (Y); Justin Bourget (Y)
Amy Davies – Michael Donnelly; Christopher Pfaltzgraff (Y)
Bill Lukens – Chris Cody

Volunteer Forms:
There will be a folder at the referee tent for volunteers forms. For that have turned them in, thank you!!! Please remember this is annual requirement and is done through the e-AYSO web site (http://www.eayso.org). Sign-up, update the form, print & sign two (2) copies, and place them in the folder. Our CVPA and RC will be very thankful!
Referee Tent:
So I have mentioned the referee tent a few times in the message. New referees may be wondering what this is. The referee tent is usually a yellow or blue pop-up tent at the fields. The game book, game card turn-in, equipment bin and flags can be found at the tent. It is also a place for referees to relax when not covering a games. This is good place for mentors and mentee to meet. There is usually some type of soccer talk happening at the referee tent. Please use it as it is there for you!!!
Again, I cannot express enough how thankful I am for you to volunteer with AYSO. Now, let’s have great season!
