I hope each of you is enjoying the summer and short break from covering games. I want to thank each of you for a wonderful spring season. I know there were some Saturdays were coverage was not so good and I appreciate each and every one of you for making the season successful. Additionally, I want to thank those that volunteered and covered games at the Antietam Cup. In my opinion it was the best Antietam Cup to date. JCYSL was represented well and we had numerous teams that placed in the tournament.
Dan Cogswell
I would like to take this time to welcome Dan Cogswell as our Regional Director of Referee Instruction. Dan is a long-time volunteer with AYSO/JCYSL, National Referee candidate, and great asset to the JCYSL referee community and staff. In addition to his AYSO experience, Dan is a National Federation of State High School Associations (HFHS) referee. Dan will be assisting JCYSL with instruction and advancement of referees. What does that mean to you? Dan will be the primary for setting-up and promoting referee classes for the Region. The fulfillment of the vacancy will relieve me from pulling double-duty as the RRA and RDRI. Please welcome Dan into this new role.
Dan is also participating in the AYSO National Game in Knoxville, TN. The National Games started today and I want to wish Dan the best as he volunteers at this National event. Good Luck Dan!
Around JCYSL
Many things are happening within JCYSL. The board has been work very hard on the promotion of JCYSL through community events and fundraisers. This information can be found at http://www.jcysl.org/category/fundraising/. Through the help from HAYSL (neighboring AYSO Region 627), JCYSL is starting to partner up with DC United. This partnering could include camps, game vouchers, player appearances, and much more. Our goal is to promote JCYSL and open JCYSL up to the other soccer experiences.

Did you know that the JCYSL Regional Referee Program has a staff that administers the program?
Those members are:
Matt Byers, Regional Referee Administrator (This position is required Regional position with voting right within the JCYSL Board. This position oversees the entire Regional Referee Program. Matt is an Advanced Referee/National Candidate, Referee Instructor, Referee Assessor, and an Advanced Coach.)
Dan Cogswell, Regional Director of Referee Instruction (This position assists the RRA with develop and planning of referee training and advancement. Dan is an Advanced Referee/National Candidate.)
Amy Davies, Regional Director of Referee Assessment (This position assists the RRA with mentoring and advancement of referees. Amy is a National Referee, Advanced Referee Instructor, and Referee Instructor Evaluator.)
Steve Kubik, Area Referee Administrator (This position oversees the Area Referee Program for AYSO Area C. Steve is a National Referee, Advance Referee Instructor, National Referee Assessor, and an Advanced Coach.)
