Note from JCYSL Regional Commissioner

DATE: April 6, 2020

Hello JCYSL Members:

Based on our directive from our National Board of Directors (NBOD), we “must postpone spring programs or continuation of 2019 primary programs rather than cancelling them if warranted by conditions such as field availability, availability of volunteers, etc. We are all dealing with an unprecedented event, but, we believe that it is important to bring a sense of normalcy back to the lives of our kids and their families by helping them getting back to playing soccer when it is deemed safe to do so.”

That said, the JCYSL Board is moving our season will be slated to start practice on May 4 with our first game on May 9. This will allow us to get 6 games in by June 13. (We will have games on Memorial Day Weekend, May 23). We will hold field day on May 2, a coach field session on May 2 and the Referee Meeting will be held on May 5.

Field Day
Based on the schedule approved by the JCYSL Board, it is imperative that we get field day completed in one day so that our children can take the fields the following Monday. The more volunteers we have helping on this day the quicker it takes us to get the job completed. So please, plan on helping us on May 2 to get the fields ready.

Coach Field Sessions
Coach Field sessions will take place on Field Day. Right now, it is scheduled for May 2 at 9am for 6U and 8U coaches and 11am for 10U and 12U coaches. If you have only taken your division training online, you must attend the field portion in order to complete your certification requirement. However, we do welcome all coaches to come join us for these trainings as this is a great refresher for current coaches AND it gives a great opportunity to share tips with our newer coaches. If you have questions regarding the field sessions or coaching this season, please feel free to reach out to your Division Directors.

Referee Meeting
Our Referee Meeting will still be held on May 5 at 7:30pm to kick off our season. Feel free to contact our Regional Referee Administrator, Lonnie Thomas, via email ([email protected]) if you are interested in refereeing or have questions.
