AYSO Region 322 - JCYSL

Note from JCYSL Board

DATE: August 29, 2020

As the Board continues to scramble to get things ready to start practices on Monday, I wanted to send a quick email to you all outlining how the season will look as we follow guidelines from AYSO National, Local Health Officials, and the Governor.

JCYSL's main focus this season is the health and safety of the children while provide an opportunity for them to enjoy the sport we all love. That said, Mike Hanscom (Safety Director) is our point person for all things COVID and he will work closely with parents and health officials to ensure we are following the proper guidelines. As we all know, things are continuously changing and he will continue to update our members as necessary.

Below is a summary of our current guidelines:

  1. Masks should be worn at all times unless you are participating in a physical activity.
    1. Spectators should wear masks arriving/leaving fields and during activities.
    2. Player should wear a mask arriving/leaving the fields but may remove them while participating in a game or practice. They should also put mask back on when on the sidelines including during halftime.
    3. Referees should wear masks arriving/leaving the fields but may remove them during the games.
  2. Social distancing is a must.
    1. JCYSL strongly encourages parents to remain in their vehicles during practice to limit the number of people we have on the fields. If you must leave your vehicle, please wear a mask and remember to social distance.
    2. During games,
      1. (10U and up) parents must sit on the spectator side which is opposite where the players and coaches will sit. The spectators should also sit on the same half of the field as their team.
      2. (8U) each team will sit on one side of the field with their team.
    3. Spectators other than immediate family should be limited. Unfortunately, this is not the social event we are used to seeing. Please limit the number of extra spectators at the fields in order to keep things at a minimum.
    4. Please clear the fields immediately after an activity.
  3.  COVID-19 screening tool must be completed no earlier than 2 hours prior to an activity.
    1.  This is a mandate from our state and health department.
    2. If you are denied participation then you must not attend the activity until given the okay from our Safety Director, Mike Hanscom, or the health department.
  4. Other information
    1. There is absolutely no sharing of anything. Each player should have their own ball, water bottle, hand sanitizer and pinnie (furnished by league).
    2. No parent sign ups for snack and water. We are not allowed to provide these things for the entire team.

All in all, these guidelines are to help us all stay safe while still enjoying the game. We ask that everyone abide by them even when they do not agree to them. Please visit our Return to Play page for a complete list of guidelines including a link to our reporting flow chart (also attached).
