Where Do I Sit at the Soccer Fields?
JCYSL Members:
The weekly update had some much information and this message warranted a specific email. Please read through the entire message.
6U & 8U Divisions
Coaches and spectators will sit/stand on the same side of the field. Coaches and their teams will sit/stand in the technical area. Spectators will sit/stand behind the technical area. The technical area will be marked by a box on one touch line.
10U, 12U, 15U, & 19U Divisions
Starting this year the 10U, 12U, 15U, and 19U will have the teams and spectators separated. The coaches and their teams will sit/stand in technical areas on one side of the field and the spectators will sit/stand on the other side. The technical areas will be marked by a box on one touch line. Parents and spectators will
not be permitted
to sit/stand on the side with the technical areas. We understand that an injury may happen and parent is permitted to
visit
the technical area to check on their player. Once everything is OK, the parent
must
return to the spectator side.
As always
NO ONE
is permitted to sit or stand behind the goal.
The reason we are doing this is clear the clutter on the touch lines in the older divisions. Additionally, a recent law change permits the referee to issue yellow and red cards to team coaches. We wanted to make it easier for the referee to determine where the issue was coming from on the fields. Lastly, it comes down to players focusing on the game. The separation will help with distractions and focus on learning moments during game situations. It is difficult to do this when a player is constantly running away from the technical area during a match.
I have attached a sample for your reference. We will be marking technical areas and spectator lines before the first game.
See you on Saturday!
Respectfully,
Matt Byers - JCYSL Regional Commissioner
