Fall Soccer 2019 - Final Week

Hello JCYSL Members:

As we enter the final week of the fall season, it is bitter-sweet for me.  As many of you know, I will be stepping down from the Regional Commissioner position on 12/1.  Lisa Blankenship will be the Interim Regional Commission until 12/1/2020.  At that time Karlo Llamado will take over the Regional Commissioner. During the next month JCYSL will be going through an administrative transition.  This means the transition of leadership at the National level as well as the financial transition at our bank.  My goal is to ensure all accounts are settled prior to 12/1.  This way the new leadership has no bills to deal with.

Additionally, during the transition JCYSL email will be unavailable the week of Thanksgiving.  The email system will be migrated to the free Gmail platform.

It has been a pleasure to serve as your Regional Commissioner. I know at times there has been a difference of opinion on how the Region is to be run.  In my opinion, that is healthy as parents and volunteers care about the players and the sport of soccer. Please continue to volunteer as coaches, referees, and board members.  Without you JCYSL will not survive.

New Board Members
On Tuesday, two new board members we voted into positions. Sarah Brantley was voted in as the 10U Division Director.  Sarah will serve in two roles:  Uniform Coordinator and 10U Division Director.  Brenda Kells was voted in as the 12U Division Director. Brenda has great soccer knowledge as a previous player and 10U girl's coach.

With new members being voted in, we need to thank Melissa Stone and Scott Jacobson.  Melissa was our 10U Division Director and took over 12U as Scott needed to step for family. Both a remarkable volunteers and will be missed by the JCYSL Board.

With that being said there are still positions that need to be filled: Treasurer, Secretary, CVPA, Safety Director, 5U Division Director, and 6U Division Director.  Please volunteer and take an active role in JCYSL.

Weather for Saturday
Looks like we will have chilly start a reach the low 60s.  There is a chance of rain after 2PM.  Since is will be chilly, it is OK to wear long sleeves and long pants under the uniform.  If the item has a hood, the hood must be tucked into the jersey for safety reasons.  Knitted hats and any type of gloves are approved as well.

Parents and Players Handbook
We have put together a page that list out expectations for coaches, parents, and players.  Additionally, it has equipment requirements for all divisions. Please take look at our Parent's and Player's Handbook.

Please remember that we follow the AYSO Kids Zone during our practices and games.  Those guidelines are listed later in this newsletter.  Please read and follow during every AYSO event.

AYSO Kids Zone
At any AYSO event (practices, games, meetings, and field day), AYSO operates under the Kids Zone Pledge.  What does that mean?  Simply put Kids Zone is establishing a positive environment for our children to play the game.  The following rules are in play during these times:

1.   Kids are No. 1.

2.   Fun, not winning is everything.

3.   Fans only cheer, and only coaches coach.

4.   No yelling in anger.

5.   Respect all volunteers (referees, coaches, and board members).

6.   No swearing or abusive behavior.

7.   No alcohol, tobacco or drugs.

8.   No pets allowed at the fields. (Service pets are permitted with credentials.)

9.   No weapons.

10.Leave no trash behind.

11.Set a proper example of sportsmanship.
